Terms of service
These terms describe how the service works. They are draft terms: the business details and the fee schedule still require the owner’s approval before they can be relied on as a contract.
Last reviewed 2026-09-12.
Draft fields awaiting the owner
The following details must be completed and verified before this policy is published. They are shown as outstanding rather than filled with invented business information.
- Trading name, legal entity and any company registration details
- Business address for consumer information and notices
- Approved fee schedule and payment method
- Final cancellation and refund windows
Who you are contracting with
The service is delivered by the Shaw Academics team trading under a working name. Shaw Academics provides independent academic tuition and guidance. The final legal and trading details will be stated here before any paid work begins.
What we agree to provide
- A free consultation of about twenty minutes, with no payment details taken.
- A written plan naming priorities, expected independent work and a review point.
- One-to-one teaching for the sessions you have agreed and paid for.
- Marked feedback within the allowance stated for your service.
- A written progress note at the agreed review point.
What we do not provide
- Writing, editing beyond permitted feedback, or submitting assessed work, applications or statements.
- Guaranteed grades, test scores, university offers or employment.
- Immigration or visa advice of any kind.
- Counselling, psychotherapy, diagnosis or crisis support.
- Examination, test, application or university fees.
We help you develop your ideas, structure your application and improve your own writing. You remain the author and are responsible for the accuracy and final submission of your application. We do not invent achievements or complete assessed work on your behalf.
Our support is designed to strengthen your preparation. Universities, test providers and employers make their own decisions; admission, scores and employment cannot be guaranteed.
Academic integrity
You must follow your school’s, college’s or university’s rules on permitted help. We will refuse any request to produce work that you will present as your own. If a request would breach those rules, we will say so and stop.
Requests are not bookings
A form submission is a request. No appointment exists until we confirm a specific time with you in writing. No payment is taken through this website, no card details are stored, and nothing recurs automatically.
Fees, cancellation and refunds
- Fees shown on the site are indicative until confirmed in writing for your specific scope.
- Blocks are paid in advance once payment arrangements are agreed in writing.
- Lessons rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice are not charged.
- Undelivered lessons in a paid block are refundable at the single-lesson rate.
- Where UK consumer law gives you a right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days, that right applies, and if you ask us to begin sooner you may be charged for what has been delivered.
Safeguarding and conduct
Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian involved. We may end a session or an agreement if conduct makes teaching unsafe or unproductive, and we will explain why in writing.
Independence
We are an independent education and progression service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of the universities, test providers or employers mentioned on this website. Names are used to identify students’ possible destinations and preparation needs.
Liability
We take responsibility for delivering the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for decisions made by universities, test providers or employers, and nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
