Safeguarding
This policy covers students under 18 and any adult at risk. It is a working policy: the named safeguarding lead and escalation contacts must be confirmed by the owner before launch.
Last reviewed 2026-09-12.
Draft fields awaiting the owner
The following details must be completed and verified before this policy is published. They are shown as outstanding rather than filled with invented business information.
- Named safeguarding lead and their contact details
- Confirmation of DBS check status, once evidenced
- Local authority safeguarding contact for our registered area
- Approved retention period for any recorded session
Guardian involvement
- Enquiries about students under 16 should be made by a parent, guardian or school.
- For any student under 18 we confirm the responsible adult’s identity and consent in writing before paid teaching begins.
- Paying for lessons does not make someone a guardian. Where a sibling or other payer makes the enquiry, we still seek guardian consent.
How sessions run
- Teaching is online and one-to-one, at a time the responsible adult knows about.
- A parent or guardian may join the consultation and any progress review.
- Contact stays on the agreed channel. We do not use private social media accounts to contact students.
- Sessions are recorded only if you ask. If they are, consent is recorded and the recording is deleted at the end of the agreed retention period.
Concerns and disclosures
If a student tells us something that makes us worried about their safety, we will not promise to keep it secret. We will explain what we have to do, tell the responsible adult where it is safe to do so, and escalate to the appropriate local safeguarding service if a child is at risk of harm.
In an emergency in the UK, call 999. For non-emergency child protection concerns, contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or your local authority children’s services. We are not an emergency or crisis service.
What this service is not
Teaching and study-skills support are educational. They are not counselling, psychotherapy, diagnosis or crisis care, and no clinical judgement is offered about any student.
Raising a safeguarding concern with us
Until a named safeguarding contact is published, please use the contact form and write “safeguarding” at the start of your message. It will be read by our safeguarding lead and treated as a priority. We would rather receive a concern that turns out to be nothing than miss one.
